Job Title: CNC Bender
Location: Livonia, MI
Job Type: Direct Hire
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Pay Rate: $24/hr
Position Summary:
The CNC Bender is responsible for the setup, operation, and training of new direct labor (DL) employees on CNC bending machines and other rotary draw bending machinery. This role ensures that all parts are manufactured to customer specifications while adhering to safety and quality standards.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Set up CNC and rotary draw bending machinery.
- Operate CNC and rotary draw bending machines efficiently.
- Provide guidance and instructions to DLs for the safe and productive operation of machinery.
- Ensure all parts are built to customer specifications.
- Report any problems or abnormal conditions to the Shift Supervisor in a timely manner.
- Maintain housekeeping and health and safety standards in the work area.
- Adhere to all corporate and plant-level rules and regulations.
- Support a team-oriented attitude and contribute to continuous improvements.
- Assist in achieving and maintaining IATF 16949 certification by understanding the importance of quality.
- Assist in achieving and maintaining ISO 14001 certification by understanding environmental responsibilities.
- Support the BTO (Build to Order) program.
- Read and interpret blueprints accurately.
- Utilize micrometers and calipers for precise measurements.
Education and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED; 5 years of service may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Must have experience in CNC bending.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and set an example for other employees.
- Thorough working knowledge of the respective cell and capable of training other employees.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Cooperative and committed attitude toward all employees, management, and corporate objectives.
- Ability to stand for long periods on the manufacturing floor.
Work Environment/Work Conditions:
- Manufacturing atmosphere with long periods of standing.
- Must wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) while on the manufacturing floor.
- Equipment used requires proper training on the potential for and avoidance of injury.
- Decisions are limited to shutting down the process and contacting the Shift Supervisor or Team Leader when the potential exists for producing defective parts.
