Position Summary

The Quality Engineering Technician supports quality operations on the manufacturing floor by performing metallurgical, dimensional, visual, and certification inspections, as well as process audits. This role ensures products and processes comply with customer requirements, engineering specifications, and established quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional, and visual inspections for customer certification orders and quality-critical inspection requirements using gauges, measuring instruments, and laboratory equipment.


  • Conduct both destructive and non-destructive examinations, as well as quality control (QC) inspections of products, materials, components, and parts throughout various stages of the production process.


  • Record and document inspection results in accordance with quality procedures.


  • Analyze product microstructures to evaluate grain uniformity, porosity, contamination, anomalies, and other characteristics to determine conformance or nonconformance of furnace heats.


  • Complete product and process audits as defined by the Quality Department.


  • Support Quality and Quality Engineering (QE) functions as required.


  • Contribute to scrap reduction and customer complaint reduction initiatives through participation in Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) activities.


  • Develop, revise, and maintain metallurgical and dimensional inspection procedures, standard work instructions, and related documentation.


  • Perform Operator Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Cleaning, Lubrication, and Inspection (CLI) activities.


  • Collect, analyze, and report statistical process data to verify compliance with established standards and identify process deviations.


  • Perform in-process inspections of inserts and physical property inspections as required.
