This is a long-term contract position which offers:

TASKS/SERVICES. The contractor shall: 
(1) Support research in the Structural Biochemistry Unit in the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) 
(2) Utilize structural biology, biochemistry, and molecular biology tools to understand the role of glycobiology at the host-microbe interface; investigate the function and mechanisms of enzyme and enzyme complexes that catalyze glycan biosynthesis
(3) Perform molecular biology (cloning, genetics), protein expression/purification, and structural biology to support the lab’s research.
(4) Perform research on existing methods and develop new protocols and assays into the laboratory’s portfolio.
(5) Manage the organization of the lab by maintaining peptide and plasmid libraries, inventory reagents, and ordering common lab supplies.
(6) Assist in training interns and new lab staff in equipment handling and laboratory techniques

REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have: 
(1) Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or related discipline.  Candidates possessing advanced degrees will also be considered.
(2) Research experience that includes molecular biology, protein expression, purification, and biochemistry. Experience with membrane protein expression/purification and CryoEM is a plus.
