Kelly has partnered with a premier client in Mentor and seeking 2nd shift Press Operators to join their team!
Job Title: Press Operator
Location: Mentor, Ohio
Shift: 2nd 2pm to 10:30pm
Pay: $23.40 per hour
The Press Operator, or Machine Press Operator, is responsible for running computer-controlled machines that cut, shape, and design various materials. This role includes troubleshooting machine malfunctions, performing maintenance, and ensuring that machines operate correctly. Quality checks and documentation are also key components of the job.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate and adjust forge presses according to guidelines, ensuring safety and precision.
- Perform set-ups, light maintenance, and troubleshoot forge press equipment to resolve any issues.
- Replace punches and dies as necessary to maintain machine efficiency and product quality.
- Complete production documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Use specified gauges to ensure products meet proper tolerances.
- Load and unload heat treat ovens as part of the forging process.
- Prepare parts for forging and program lathe machines for roughing operations.
- Load and unload automated blast units, and operate a band saw and snippers to finish products.
- Operate a lathe and mill as needed for specific tasks.
- Conduct general daily cleaning to maintain a safe and organized work environment.
- Keep accurate records of production and maintenance activities.
Skills and Competencies:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required, or a combination of education and experience.
- Experience: At least 1 year in a manufacturing environment; machine operator experience preferred.
- Communication: Ability to effectively communicate and work as part of a team.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in operating and maintaining machinery, including forge presses, lathes, and mills.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
- Safety: Adhere to all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment, including gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
