Technical Web Developer (Contract to Hire)
**Up to $80K/year or more DOE**
*Four days/week onsite & one day remote supporting Prince Georges County in Largo, MD*

Job Description:
The Technical Web Developer is responsible for designing, coding, and maintaining websites and web applications. They ensure functionality, performance, and security while collaborating with designers, project managers, and other developers.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Design and develop websites using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and backend technologies like PHP, Python, or Node.js

  • SharePoint Administration and Implementation

  • Build and maintain web applications that are scalable, secure, and user-friendly

  • Collaborate with designers and stakeholders to translate UI/UX designs into functional code

  • Integrate third-party services and APIs to enhance site functionality

  • Optimize website performance for speed, responsiveness, and SEO

  • Ensure cross-browser and cross-device compatibility through testing and debugging

  • Maintain and update existing websites to fix bugs, add features, or improve usability

  • Implement security best practices to protect user data and prevent vulnerabilities

Non-Essential Duties:

  • Training & Mentorship

  • Assisting junior developers or interns

  • Hosting internal workshops or tech talks

  • Documentation & Reporting

  • Writing internal documentation for non-critical systems

  • Creating reports for stakeholders on project progress

  • Design Collaboration

  • Offering feedback on UI/UX designs

  • Occasionally creating mockups or wireframes (if no dedicated designer is available)

Core Responsibilities: 

  • Development & Coding

  • Build and maintain websites and web applications using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and backend languages (e.g., PHP, Python, Node.js)

  • Implement and Administer SharePoint sites

  • Write clean, scalable, and well-documented code

  • Use frameworks and libraries like React, Angular, or jQuery to enhance functionality

  • Front-End & Back-End Integration

  • Translate UI/UX designs into responsive, interactive web interfaces

  • Connect front-end elements with server-side logic and databases

  • Ensure cross-browser and cross-device compatibility

  • Performance & Optimization

  • Optimize site speed, responsiveness, and SEO

  • Monitor and improve page load times and user experience

  • Implement caching, compression, and other performance techniques

Required Skills/Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Web Development, Information Technology, or a related field

Working Conditions

  • Standard office environment

  • May require extended hours during project deadlines or system implementations

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods in stationary position at a desk and working on a computer

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times

  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move throughout the office, including across longer distances such as from the building entrance to the workspace
