Your personal safety is our number one priority - and must be yours to ensure your success during your assignment.

Therefore, we believe ZERO is the most critical number regarding employee safety at Kelly.

Zero incidents, zero injuries, and zero harm.
These have been longstanding goals for Kelly. And our Absolute Zero™ program reflects our passion for safe behaviour. We expect:

  • Our leaders to demonstrate that employee health and safety are our number one priority.
  • Our customers provide and continually foster a safe work environment.
  • And our employees act safely while looking out for their coworkers’ safety, as well.

Safety Expectations

We work with our customers to prepare you to conduct your assignment safely and successfully. We do so by providing the necessary training, tools, and resources.

However, it is also your responsibility, and we expect you, to perform your job correctly and safely every time. Meeting these expectations will help in achieving an injury-free workplace.

Personal safety is a core job responsibility for all employees.

As a Kelly employee, you’re expected to:

  • Accept responsibility for your own behaviour and actions.
  • Know and comply with all safety policies, standards, and procedures that apply to your job.
  • Actively participate in all required training.
  • Actively participate in safety meetings.
  • Not knowingly commit unsafe acts.
  • Know and manage your own personal limitations.
  • Assess the hazards of the job area before starting any assignment and plan the job so that the work can be done safely.
  • Manage any situations that affect your ability to do the job safely.
  • Continuously evaluate conditions that affect your ability to do the job safely.
  • Use the correct tools and use them safely.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in your work area.
  • Do not let job pressures affect your ability to safely perform your job.
  • Work with your Kelly Representative to identify additional training needs.

Reporting Injuries & Incidents

To help ensure your safety and the safety of those around you, you are expected to:

  • Immediately report all incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions to your customer supervisor and Kelly Representative.
  • Intervene to address unsafe conditions or behaviours.
  • Immediately report to your customer supervisor and Kelly Representative upon becoming aware of an injury or illness that may be work-related.

Common Workplace Injuries

As part of our commitment to safety, Kelly completed an analysis of all injury types/causes and discovered that the majority of common workplace injuries occurred in the following categories. As a result, Kelly has safety programs explicitly designed to educate and protect workers:

During orientation, your Kelly representative will review Kelly's safety programs, policies, and procedures with you. Therefore, you must address any questions you may have concerning safety.

Health & Safety Regulations

Kelly’s goal is to meet, if not to exceed, the Occupational Health and Safety requirements of each province in Canada. The Occupational Health and Safety Awareness and Training regulation requires health and safety awareness training for every worker and supervisor. Kelly’s Talent Handbook meets legislative requirements and contains the information you need to work safely. In addition to the Talent Handbook, please review the Safety Awareness Program.
