Shift: 1st Shift | Weekend Work & Overtime Required

Pay Range: $25–38/hr, depending on education and experience
Company Overview:
A small, fast-growing life sciences startup in Baltimore, MD is leveraging metabolomics technologies to support cutting-edge research and product development across academic, clinical, and industrial sectors. Their dynamic, hands-on team is seeking a dedicated Lab Scientist to join their expanding operation and contribute directly to high-impact projects.
Position Summary:
This role is ideal for early-career scientists (BS, MS, or PhD) looking to break into a fast-paced lab environment and build real-world experience with high-end analytical tools. You’ll work with mass spectrometry and chemical analyzer platforms, supporting internal R&D and collaborative projects.
This is a 3–6 month temp-to-hire opportunity, with potential for long-term placement based on performance.
Key Responsibilities:

Operate and maintain chemical analyzers and mass spectrometry (MS) instruments

Prepare samples, run analytical assays, and analyze resulting data

Assist in method development and optimization for metabolomics workflows

Document experimental procedures, results, and instrument maintenance

Collaborate with the broader lab team to meet project deadlines
-
Must be available to work overtime and weekends as needed

May assist in onboarding or mentoring junior lab members or trainees
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field
-
Hands-on experience with mass spectrometry and chemical analyzers is required
-
Strong attention to detail and a self-motivated, team-oriented mindset
-
Willingness and ability to work long hours, including weekends
-
Previous experience in a startup, CRO, or high-throughput lab is a plus
