Field Service Engineer – Biotech Equipment
Location: South San Francisco, CA (Hybrid)
Pay: $121K–$150K + full benefits + equity
About the Role
Join a small, fast-growing biotech company that’s building automated systems to speed up drug and cell therapy development. We’re looking for a hands-on Field Service Manager to lead installations, troubleshooting, and maintenance for advanced lab systems across North America.
Schedule & Travel

Standard weekday schedule, mostly daytime hours.

Must be based in the Bay Area and able to work onsite in South San Francisco at least two days per week when not traveling.

Up to 50% travel across the U.S. (some international possible).
What You’ll Do
-
Install, repair, and maintain automated bioprocessing equipment.

Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and software issues.

Train customers and internal teams.

Create service documentation and help improve field processes.
What You Bring
-
5+ years of field service or instrumentation experience in biotech, pharma, or automation.

Strong troubleshooting and customer-facing skills.
-
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.
-
Professional maturity and ownership mindset — able to represent the company well on client sites.
Bonus Skills
-
Bioreactor or bioprocessing system experience.
-
IQ/OQ or validation background.
-
Linux or software/firmware troubleshooting knowledge.
