Now Hiring: Shipping Clerk (Shipper)
Location: Lima, NY
Pay Rate: $20.00/hour
About the Role
Under the general direction of the Production Manager, the Shipping Clerk (Shipper) is responsible for preparing, packaging, and coordinating outgoing shipments to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of customer orders. This role ensures that all products are safely packaged, properly labeled, and fully documented in accordance with company and customer requirements. You’ll play a key part in maintaining smooth shipping operations by working closely with production, inventory, and carriers.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and verify shipping orders, sales orders, and packing lists for accuracy
- Ensure all customer shipping requirements are met (quantities, part numbers, shipping methods, documentation)
- Verify and apply correct labels on cartons and pallets per customer or carrier specifications
- Apply shipping marks, barcodes, and handling instructions accurately
- Maintain clean and organized shipping and staging areas
- Keep an adequate inventory of shipping materials
- Schedule carrier pickups (LTL, FTL, parcel, international, etc.)
- Coordinate daily shipments with production, inventory, and customer service teams
- Communicate any shipping delays, shortages, or issues promptly
- Generate and maintain shipping documents including BOLs, packing slips, customs forms, and certificates of origin
- Scan and upload documents into ERP system (QAD)
- Enter accurate shipment data into ERP system (QAD)
- Maintain detailed shipping records for traceability and audit readiness
- Arrange cost-effective and timely transportation with freight carriers
- Track shipments and resolve delivery issues or claims
- Monitor freight costs and support cost-reduction efforts
- Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures in the shipping and loading areas
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and related equipment safely (certification required)
- Ensure compliance with DOT, hazardous material, and export regulations
- Identify and suggest process improvements to reduce errors and improve shipping turnaround times
- Support the development and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Work collaboratively with production, customer service, and purchasing teams
- Communicate professionally with carriers and customers
- Maintain a positive, proactive approach to meeting daily shipping goals
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 1–2 years of shipping/warehouse experience preferred
- Familiarity with shipping platforms: UPS, FedEx, LTL, freight forwarding, etc.
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably QAD
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office required)
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet throughout the shift
- Forklift certification preferred (or willingness to be certified)

- Regular standing, walking, bending, and lifting
- Safe handling of boxes up to 50 lbs
- Use of warehouse equipment (training provided)
