We are seeking a Sample Processing Assistant for a multi-year contract opportunity with a leading specialty chemical manufacturer. Look ahead with us and help shape innovative solutions to make our world more sustainable and life healthier, more vibrant and more comfortable.
 
Job Title: Sample Processing Assistant
Location: Lafayette, IN
Rate: $20/hr. or $41,600 annual equivalent + full benefits (PTO, federal holidays, medical/dental/health insurance, etc.)
 
Job Summary:
 
The Sample Processing Assistant will coordinate and perform a diverse set of tasks supporting clients with sample supplies, sample receipts, COC and project documentation, and supports Laboratories with accurate and timely sample distribution. Follows all Standard Operating Procedures and Quality Program.
 
Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the Sample Processing Department and trains others for backup in the department.

  • Receives client samples, unpacks sample coolers, labels samples appropriately and disperses samples to appropriate laboratory.

  • Logs samples into LIMS system and generates project folders for laboratories.

  • Responsible for following disposal process to ensure samples are disposed properly. Ensures no sample is disposed prior to completion of all testing and investigations.

  • Follows contract information as provided for applicable projects, and notifies accounting if discrepancies are encountered.

  • Assembles and ships client sampling supplies.

  • Communicates all project information to lab personnel.

  • Stocks supplies necessary for daily tasks to be completed.

  • Orders chemicals/supplies as necessary for Lab.

  • Maintains organization and cleanliness of customer service area.

  • Manages and ships subcontract samples.

  • Manages ordering for conference and workshop events as needed.

  • Maintains a friendly customer service attitude with all client interactions.

  • Follows all assigned SOPs.

  • Any and all other tasks deemed necessary.

 
General Communication, Continuous Improvement, and Interpersonal interaction Responsibilities

  • Handles stressful situations with a positive work environment and culture.

  • Works to resolve any conflicts that may arise between people and areas of company for the most positive outcome.

  • Solves problems that arise to the best of their ability before involving upper management.

  • Maintains quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards; analyzing and resolving quality and customer service problems; identifying trends; recommending process improvements.

  • Works with upper management for strategy development and execution planning

  • Reports any major problems or issues to Laboratory Supervisor or Manager

  • Expected to work at least 40 hours per week, with understanding that they may need to stay longer on busy weeks to get any necessary work completed.

 
Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong attention to detail, great organization skills, and a sense of time management.

  • The ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while adhering to stringent timelines is a must for this position.
