Material Planner – Lab Automation

Length of assignment: 6 months
Location: Burlington, On
Schedule: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, 40 hours per week.
Pay Rate: $40/hr + 4% of vacation pay
How You’ll Make an Impact
As the Material Planner, you will lead the supplier management process to achieve company objectives. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally with project management, technical, quality, finance, and other teams to prioritize and develop sourcing strategies, negotiate contracts, support supplier transitions, and manage key supplier relationships.
Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with Marketing and Operations leadership to manage supply demands and inventory levels for standard product lines
 
- Coordinate with project teams to align material deliveries with customer and quality expectations
 
- Participate in New Product Development & Introduction (NPDI) teams to secure materials and vendor contracts
Procurement
- Monitor market trends and refine buying plans to support business needs
 
- Manage supplier relationships and negotiations to ensure value and protect company interests
 
- Analyze supplier performance, communicate results, and propose development plans
 
- Manage inflation, sourcing savings, and purchased-part variances to achieve operational goals
Materials
- Forecast demand based on usage and production data
 
- Control inventory levels, preventing shortages and overstocking
 
- Manage the full work order process
 
- Release and print work orders, balancing priorities
 
- Oversee make-to-stock programs for standard products
 
- Coordinate material transfers between areas/vendors
 
- Ensure ERP system integrity for inventory transactions
 
- Provide reporting support for shortages and usage history
 
- Ensure material availability aligns with project milestones and issue Production Orders
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field
 
- 5+ years’ relevant experience in procurement/materials in project-based or manufacturing environments
 
- CSCP or SCMP designation preferred
 
- APICS certification preferred
- Proven track record in material planning, inventory, or supply chain management
 
- Proficiency in planning software and ERP systems
 
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
 
- Skilled at working in fast-paced, dynamic environments
 
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
