Job Title: Senior Robot Process Engineer
Location: Auburn Hills
Type: 1+ Year Contract (Permanent Hire Opportunity)
Compensation: Overtime + Travel Pay + Comprehensive Benefits
Travel: Up to 35% (including Mexico and Canada)
Worksite: 100% Onsite; Flexible start time between 7–9 AM
Are you a hands-on robotics expert ready to tackle advanced automation challenges in a dynamic environment?
We’re seeking a Senior Robot Process Engineer to lead robotics projects from concept through implementation. In this highly visible role, you’ll take ownership of high-impact automation initiatives, optimizing performance, guiding timelines, and mentoring junior engineers. Your expertise will drive innovation as you develop, program, and implement industrial robotic solutions, with a primary focus on FANUC systems and dispense processes.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead and execute robotics projects as the technical expert on the team
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and deliverables
- Select and confirm robot models and options to match project needs
- Develop offline robot programs (OLPs) and on-site automation solutions
- Teach TCPs, Frames, Loads, and configure DCS safety parameters
- Configure robot I/O, end-of-arm tooling (EOAT), and communication interfaces
- Set up and operate a range of dispense process equipment
- Integrate third-party software and validate system functionality via simulations
- Implement cycle time improvements and robot path optimizations for peak efficiency
- Mentor junior team members and support their growth
What You Bring:
- Extensive FANUC robotics programming experience and deep understanding of vision systems (FANUC 3D, body offsets)
- Experience in manufacturing automation for automotive environments (GM, Ford, etc.)
- Ability to write high-quality programs from scratch and deliver on strict deadlines
- Knowledge of ABB robotics (especially for dispense applications) preferred
- Experience with PLC5 to 5000 systems is a plus
