Job details
- Operate a 1-gallon batch reactor to conduct polymerization experiments under defined conditions
- Support catalyst qualification, troubleshooting, and innovation by assisting research chemists—your data will directly impact world-leading catalyst development!
- Package and dispose of waste in compliance with RCRA regulations
- Prepare polymer and catalyst samples for analysis and testing
- Perform basic lab analyses, such as gravimetric measurements and titrations
- Thoroughly document and communicate experimental results with the team
- Conduct general housekeeping and laboratory upkeep tasks
- Maintain reactor equipment, including tubing and valve replacement, pump repair, instrument replacement, and vessel cleaning
- Mechanical aptitude with a knack for troubleshooting laboratory and reactor equipment
- Strong attention to detail, critical thinking skills, and independent problem-solving ability
- Solid math skills, including solution calculations, unit conversions, and molar ratio determination
- Proficiency in computer applications (MS Excel, Word, laboratory software systems)
- Knowledge and safe handling experience with flammable and pyrophoric solids and liquids; capable of maintaining sensitive reagents in air/moisture-controlled environments
- Ability to access and interpret laboratory reference data (boiling points, flash points, vapor pressure, density, etc.)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable interacting with coworkers and leadership at all levels
- Self-motivated, reliable, able to work independently and with high personal accountability
- Safety and Physical Requirements:
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs as needed
- Compliance with all PPE & safety protocols in designated work areas
- Night shift only: Four days a week, 12-hour shifts
- Associate’s degree in a technical field (minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7) OR
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience (laboratory technician, reactor operator, chemical technician, computer science, etc.)
