Pay Rate: $31-32/hour DOE

In this role you’ll be supporting product development for both brands and will work on both ready-to-drink (RTD) and ready-to-mix (RTM) formulations.

Schedule: Mon-Fri day shift

Responsibilities:
Lab and/or pilot plant activities: 70% of Time 

  • Execution of workflows and testing of bench top and pilot line activities to support multiple product development projects/initiatives–from ordering/weighing ingredients to production/evaluation/optimization of prototypes to packaging, and labeling prototypes samples.

  • Ensure adherence and conformance to Lab Safety Plan, Food Safety Plan, and all EHS requirements.

  • Effective communication with product developers and lab team members to address inventory needs.

  • Maintaining an inventory of hazardous materials, ensuring proper labeling and documentation (SDS or COA).

  • Storage Management – Manage storage and shipment of shelf-life samples / ingredients.

  • Ingredient Management – Learn & execute workflows with ingredients and conduct independent testing in full compliance with food safety plan.

  • Set up, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot lab/pilot line equipment.

  • Maintain inventory management system for all pilot plant parts and supplies: raw and trial ingredients, packaging supplies and finished products (bench top and appropriate commercial samples) by maintaining of agreed upon stock levels through re-ordering samples and adherence to shelf life (working closely with R&D team to achieve these duties).      

  • Support with shipping and receiving of the samples to/from various sites and personnel via appropriate carriers. 

  • Maintain sanitation and organization of lab and/or pilot line areas.  

R&D Documentation: 25% of Time 

  • Complete lab and/or pilot line documentation: ingredient/sample records, inventory records, formulation and processing notes, cleaning records, shipping records, and lab notebooks. 

  • Conduct analytical measurements and directly support lab activities as assigned for the food scientists. 

R&D Department Support: 5% of Time 

  • Provide insight/recommendations into processing parameters for equipment and safety requirements. 

  • Support other R&D team members with running equipment and/or product development activities, as needed. 

Qualifications:

  • BS in Food Chemistry, Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or similar disciplines AND 1+ years of experience in the Food industry.  

  • Strong technical knowledge to solve complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement suitable solutions. Possess curiosity, creativity, and alternative thinking to develop new innovative solutions.

  • Being a confident and independent worker with great communication skills. Critical thinking ability to explain complex technical subject matters to non-technical personnel. Communicate technical details to team leaders.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment through excellent interpersonal, influencing and communication skills (both written and verbal).

  • Ability to excel in dynamic fast paced business environment, demonstrated ability to self-motivate and manage multiple priorities.

  • Solid understanding of food industry standards for quality and regulatory
