Travel: Up to 25% during commissioning phase of each project
Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Senior Product Engineer to join our team. This leadership role will manage and coordinate the execution of engineering deliverables specifically over a single product line, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Working closely with the Chief Engineer, the position involves overseeing a team of four engineers and coordinating with third-party engineering disciplines to drive project success from initiation through completion.
Responsibilities:
Project Initiation:
- Collaborate with the Product Line Manager to define and implement the execution strategy for the product line.
- Establish the project team, utilizing both internal and external resources.
- Set priorities and deadlines for product-specific projects.
Project Execution:
- Oversee the daily operations of engineering activities related to the product line.
- Partner closely with product engineering to prioritize project assignments.
- Maintain consistent communication with the engineering team to monitor project progress.
- Manage project budgets, focusing on engineering hours and design costs specific to the product line.
- Coordinate design reviews and approval of blueprints and plans.
Team Management:
- Supervise and mentor a dedicated team of engineers for a heavy equipment product line.
- Lead coordination with third-party disciplines as needed.
- Work with Product Engineers to define project scope, timelines, and budgets.
- Support contract negotiations and monitor subcontractor performance for product-specific projects.
- Ensure alignment and collaboration within the engineering team to meet deadlines and deliverables.
Vendor and Stakeholder Liaison:
- Set deadlines for vendor information supporting design tasks.
- Engage with field teams on construction sequences and logistics specific to product requirements.
- Address shipping requirements related to product components and equipment transport.
- Report weekly progress.
Project Completion:
- Collaborate with the Chief Engineer to evaluate lessons learned regarding client expectations, design efficiency, constructability, and vendor performance.
- Analyze project timelines, resource management, and budget adherence focused on the product line.
Project Support:
- Provide technical support to procurement and construction/commissioning teams as required for the product line.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Structural or Electrical Engineering.
- Over 8 years of experience heavy equipment engineering with focus on product-specific projects.
- Expertise in heavy industrial equipment, with knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components, steel fabrication, and AISC painting standards.
- Energetic, dynamic, and self-motivated personality.
- Strong communication skills across oral, written, and electronic mediums.
- Proficiency in planning, organization, and decision-making.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook) and SolidWorks.
- Cultural sensitivity and understanding of global practices.
- Willingness and capacity to travel both domestically and internationally (North America, Asia, and Europe).
