Title: Environmental & Safety Manager
Location: Louisville, KY metro area
Salary: $100-125,000 + Benefits

The Environmental & Safety Manager ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements related to environmental sustainability and workplace safety. In environmental management, this role oversees hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, regulatory reporting, inspections, and environmental compliance initiatives. Additionally, the position leads the organization’s efforts toward carbon neutrality, developing and implementing sustainability programs that reduce emissions, conserve resources, and promote environmental stewardship. In safety management, this role is responsible for continuously monitoring and improving workplace safety procedures to ensure a safe, compliant, and efficient work environment for all employees.

Key responsibilities include conducting safety inspections, leading accident investigations, organizing safety meetings, and maintaining necessary records and reports in alignment with OSHA, ANSI, and company standards. This position requires an effective communicator who can deliver clear, concise, and consistent messages both verbally and in writing. The role plays a critical part in fostering a culture of safety, compliance, and sustainability while driving continuous improvement in environmental and safety systems.

Environmental & Safety Department Management:

  • Manages the work schedules of environmental & safety personnel, ensuring team effectiveness and productivity.

  • Ensures that time cards, time-off requests, and final training qualifications for team members are reviewed and approved.

  • Lead by example in day-to-day activities, motivating the team to complete projects on time.

  • Communicate vision and goals clearly to align the team with organizational objectives.

Environmental Compliance:

  • Serve as a Delegated Signatory Authority, approving and signing state, federal, and customer environmental reports.

  • Oversee hazardous waste management, regulatory reporting, inspections, and spill response readiness.

  • Participate as an active team member in hazardous material spill response (less than 55 gallons) and emergency response for oil spills.

  • Is a Qualified Individual for the Facility Response Plan (FRP) and a member of ILA’s Safety Committee.

  • Assist or Delegates key environmental reporting which includes:

    • CERCLA Title III (SARA 311/312 & 313), CERCLA spill reporting, TSCA CDR, GHS labeling, Haz-Com training requirements and Greenhouse Gas Emission reporting.

Ensure compliance with:

  • MSOP Air Permit, Boiler NESHAP, Generator NESHAP RICE/NSPS regulations, RCRA Hazardous Waste

  • Manage and maintain environmental compliance programs, including SWPPP, SPCC, and FRP Plans, ensuring timely updates and adherence to regulations.

  • Oversee ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) programs, including significant aspect lists, environmental objectives/targets, and recycling initiatives.

  • Coordinate contracted auditors for environmental regulatory and EMS
