Full time Direct Hire opportunity in Farmington Hills for an Application Engineer.
Mechanical or Electrical degree is required
2-4 years of engineering experience
Some hands on project work and AutoCAD would be nice
Full paid benefits included
$70,000 – $80,000k
The Application Engineer’s primary objectives will be to promote a positive customer experience and improve opportunity success rate through support of the Sales team. As an Application Engineer specializing in critical power and cooling systems, you will play a key role in understanding our customers’ technical requirements, providing expert guidance on product selection, and ensuring seamless integration of our solutions into their data center environments. You will collaborate closely with sales teams, customers, and internal stakeholders to deliver customized solutions that meet our customers’ expectations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Become proficient on all products we represent through in house and manufacturer provided training.
- Provide technical expertise and recommendations on the selection and configuration of our products to meet customer requirements.
- Collaborate with sales teams to develop tailored solutions and proposals for customer projects.
- Working with Sales and Project Management Team – Support projects throughout the implementation process, including system integration, and troubleshooting.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to data center power and cooling.
- Support Sales Engineers to review bid management software systems to support awareness and engagement of these opportunities.
- Attend appropriate on-site customer meetings with Sales Team
- Coordinate with Sales Engineer(s) to determine what we do and do not bid and also to get approval on specifications we are not listed as an acceptable manufacturer.
- Coordinate with Customer Service Representative (CSR) to manage bid calendar, create CRM opportunities, bidder lists, and any other necessary tasks on opportunities.
- Assist Sales Engineering team on design and configuration of system.
- Create proposals, cut sheets, scope document, and any other documentation required for an opportunity for review with Sales Engineer(s). Coordinate with manufacturer as needed to pull together documentation.
- Send proposals, cut sheets, scope document, and other documentation to bidding contractors.
- Support Sales Engineer(s) on technical support needs through equipment order execution.
- Review approval submittals for any notes. Make corrections as necessary. Coordinate with Sales Engineer(s) through the process.
- Complete technical review of all equipment prior to ordering. Coordinate with Outside Sales Engineer(s).
- Coordinate with Customer Service Representative (CSR) on order write-up, CRM order management, ship date management, coordination with contractors, and any other necessary tasks on opportunities.
- Provide project management assistance Project Management Team(s) – pre-installation, pre-startup, and/or job site meetings
- Learn and maintain knowledge of various software systems utilized in the sales and project coordination process.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or related field (preferred – not required)
- Proven experience in a technical or application engineering role, preferably within the data center or critical infrastructure industry.
- Baseline understanding of mission critical environments and power and thermal infrastructure – strong desire to continue learning.
- Proficiency and working knowledge in interpreting technical specifications, equipment diagrams, building drawings, electrical schematics and other drawings associated with equipment design and facility integrations
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong computer skills and quick adoption of new technologies and software systems.
- Critical thinking and desire to take initiative toward personal growth.
