Our food and beverage manufacturing client is expanding their 2nd shift maintenance operations to focus on preventive maintenance and is seeking a Lead 2nd Shift Maintenance Technician (Direct Hire) to independently oversee equipment servicing and inspections, ensuring optimal performance and preventing potential failures.
Hours for this position will be Monday through Friday, 3:30 PM – 11:30 PM. The new Maintenance Technician will need to excel in mechanical and technical proficiency, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting. They must understand quality control and safety protocols, maintain accurate records, and adapt to changes, ensuring efficient production and compliance with standards. Previous experience in the food or beverage industry or similar a huge plus. Manufacturing experience, a must. Mechanical and Technical Proficiency, Preventative Maintenance, Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving, and also Quality Controls skills are essential.
Job Description:
Maintenance Technicians are responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical and mechanical systems across plant and packaging equipment. The technician manages and prioritizes maintenance work orders, supports safety compliance, and ensures equipment readiness.
Key Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot, understand and repair electrical and mechanical problems of all plant and packaging/processing equipment and demonstrate an understanding of electrical schematics. Equipment may include but not limited to wiring, circuits, fuses, switches, electrical installations, motors and AC/DC motor drivers and circuit boards.
Coordinate, prioritize, conduct and correct maintenance work orders, ensuring they are completed accurately for planned and unplanned assignments.
Respond to any immediate associate safety issues per work order system.
Use machinery/equipment specifically related to the position including but not limited to saws, drills, lathes, basic mechanical tools, forklifts, scissor lifts, etc.
Perform various maintenance projects using concrete, lumber and metal.
Follows all safety guidelines in the department including proper use of PPE and lockout procedures.
Demonstrated ability to work without direct/constant supervision.
Ability to read and understand documentation.
All associates are responsible for the safety, quality and food safety in their work areas.
Adheres to all food safety, quality, personnel safety and GMP procedures throughout the facility.
Qualifications:
Ability to work in a self-directed team environment with minimal supervision.
Mechanical and Technical Proficiency: Expertise in maintaining and repairing production equipment and machinery involved in food processing and packaging.
Preventive Maintenance: Ability to implement and manage preventive maintenance programs to ensure equipment operates efficiently and minimize downtime.
Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Skilled in diagnosing and resolving mechanical or technical issues quickly to maintain smooth production operations.
Quality Control Knowledge: Understanding quality control standards, especially those related to food safety and hygiene, to ensure compliance and product integrity.
Safety Protocols: Familiarity with health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment and adherence to safety protocols.
Strong problem-solving skills, mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, good computer skills and the ability to write and place PO’s for the ordering of items needed for repair.
Ability to work in extreme work environments that may be hot, humid, cold and wet.
