Target Pay Rate: $ 38.51 /hr.
Location: Carlsbad, NM area
Seeking Chemist for a energy company located in Southeastern New Mexico. Company provides petroleum product and crude oil transportation, storage and throughput services to its refineries and the petroleum industry.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Sample and conduct standard tests on raw materials, intermediates, and finished products and may train others to perform standard tests depending on location.
- Ensure testing is carried out as per established methods/procedures.
- Ensure the quality of work through quality assurance testing and documentation.
- Record, report, and certify results in LIMS software
- Diagnose laboratory equipment malfunctions.
- Solve problems and fix laboratory equipment and machinery.
- Perform routine maintenance and calibrations on laboratory equipment.
- Create QA documents and protocols.
- Monitor process control of plant streams, product purity and fuel gas composition, liquefied petroleum products, and various levels of Hydrogen.
- Support other departments in sampling, testing, and compliance monitoring.
- Maintain the lab supplies and equipment (orders supplies)
- Conduct routine and non-routine chemistry/laboratory assignments for the Lab Department under limited supervision.
- May lead the work of others from time-to-time.
- Operate Chromatographs (GC).
- Ship samples designated as hazardous.
- Monitor drinking water streams for compliance.
- Check emissions compliance (state certified).
- Provide support to operations with product blending.
- Develop new methods/procedures.
- Work with outside testing laboratories to coordinate special requests and compliance testing
- Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.
- Lead the development and implementation of security architecture standards and guidelines.
- Participate in and leads architecture reviews and ensures architecture adherence, facilitates security risk trade-off discussions, and tracks architecture deviations.
- Facilitate and improve the architectural decision-making process, including assessment of technology options.
- Lead the resolution of complex IT/OT security architectural challenges and conflicts.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends and evaluate their applicability to the organization’s needs and drafts risk-aware adoption plans.
- Promote best practices in technology development, integration, and architecture within the team and the broader organization.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Minimum of 3 years of job-related experience.
- Quality Control experience required.
- Familiar with LIMS is a plus.
- Working knowledge of laboratory testing and ability to apply this knowledge.
- Working knowledge of petroleum products and testing.
- Depending on location, may require the ability to train and lead the work of others.
- Ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication, ability to perform advanced mathematical calculations, intermediate reading and writing skills.
- May lead the work of others regularly.
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Chemistry or related field.
