Senior Research Scientist/Engineer
Location: Grand Rapids, MI
Job Type: Full-Time | On-Site

Salary: $130k-$170k

Overview:
A cutting-edge research organization in West Michigan is seeking a Senior Research Scientist or Engineer to help lead and expand a health-focused research initiative. This role is ideal for a driven and collaborative research professional eager to shape the future of translational health innovation while developing a sustainable, externally funded research program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead a robust, externally funded research program.


  • Collaborate with regional healthcare institutions, academic partners, and internal teams on interdisciplinary research projects.


  • Provide leadership and oversight for research operations, including lab safety and compliance.


  • Participate in institutional meetings and conferences, including occasional travel to other research campuses.


  • Foster collaboration and contribute to an inclusive, team-oriented environment.

Qualifications:

  • M.D. or Ph.D. in a health-related field (e.g., biomedical engineering, biology, chemistry, computing, cognitive sciences, etc.).


  • Proven track record in securing and managing federal research grants.


  • Strong research publication and presentation history.


  • Experience leading interdisciplinary teams.


  • Ability to serve as Principal Investigator (PI) on federal grants.


  • Experience in research center management or administration.


  • Familiarity with federal and non-federal funding platforms.


  • Prior experience with institutional review boards (IRB, IACUC).

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.


  • Ability to communicate complex research to varied audiences.


  • Passion for health innovation and community impact.
