Overview:
A cutting-edge research organization in West Michigan is seeking a Senior Research Scientist or Engineer to help lead and expand a health-focused research initiative. This role is ideal for a driven and collaborative research professional eager to shape the future of translational health innovation while developing a sustainable, externally funded research program.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop and lead a robust, externally funded research program.
-
Collaborate with regional healthcare institutions, academic partners, and internal teams on interdisciplinary research projects.

Provide leadership and oversight for research operations, including lab safety and compliance.
-
Participate in institutional meetings and conferences, including occasional travel to other research campuses.
-
Foster collaboration and contribute to an inclusive, team-oriented environment.
Qualifications:
-
M.D. or Ph.D. in a health-related field (e.g., biomedical engineering, biology, chemistry, computing, cognitive sciences, etc.).

Proven track record in securing and managing federal research grants.
-
Strong research publication and presentation history.
-
Experience leading interdisciplinary teams.
-
Ability to serve as Principal Investigator (PI) on federal grants.

Experience in research center management or administration.
-
Familiarity with federal and non-federal funding platforms.

Prior experience with institutional review boards (IRB, IACUC).

Strong leadership and organizational skills.

Ability to communicate complex research to varied audiences.
