Mechanical Drafter – Modesto, CA

Contract to Hire – $35/hr and up

Essential Functions

This job description reflects management’s assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned.

  • Analyzes engineering sketches, specifications, and related data and drawings to determine design factors (e.g., size, shape, arrangement of parts, etc.).

  • Prepares rough layouts utilizing CAD software, including Fusion 360.

  • Performs a variety of calculations (e.g., to compute angles, weights, dimensions, compression, etc.).

  • Utilizes CMM machines for precise measurement tasks and integrates findings into design processes.

  • Prepares detailed multi-view drawings based on engineering data and standard references.

  • Compiles and analyzes test data to determine effect of design in relation to a variety of factors.

  • Makes adjustments or changes as necessary or desired.

  • Performs more advanced functions as part of training and development.

  • Resolves most routine questions and problems, and refers only the most complex issues to higher levels.

  • Participates in orienting and training lower level employees when necessary.

  • Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.

  • Demonstrates prior experience or knowledge with CNC machines, which is a plus for this position.

  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental, and safety regulatory considerations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certification.

  • 2 years CAD experience.

  • Auto-CAD Drawing software experience.

  • Experience in Fusion 360 software.

  • Experienced in reading and comprehending simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.

  • Experienced in writing simple correspondence and procedures.

  • Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Experience using CMM machines is preferred.
