Job Title: Piping & Mechanical CAD Designer
Location: REMOTE with quarterly travel to Wisconsin
Industry: Engineering / Energy / Industrial Projects
Contract: 6-12 months
Pay Rate: 50-70/hr plus OT pay and FULL BENEFITS
Join a fast-paced engineering team as a Piping & Mechanical CAD Designer, where you’ll play a key role in creating high-quality 3D models and 2D drawings that bring complex industrial projects to life. From early design concepts to final as-built surveys, your expertise will directly support engineers, site teams, and project success.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop 3D models and detailed drawings for piping systems, equipment layouts, and fabrication parts.
- Collaborate with Mechanical and Electrical Engineers to ensure accurate designs from concept through construction.
- Support proposals and pre-tender activities with initial layouts and design input.
- Produce full design deliverables including:
- P&ID diagrams
- General arrangements (plan, elevation, isometric)
- Fabrication and skid drawings
- Equipment and materials lists
- P&ID diagrams
- Conduct site surveys and as-built verifications.
- Liaise with internal teams, subcontractors, and site personnel to resolve design issues.
- Maintain CAD systems and develop a library of reusable design components.
- Mentor junior designers and contribute to team training and performance goals.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in piping and mechanical CAD design within industrial or energy-related sectors.
- Strong skills in AutoCAD Plant 3D, AutoCAD P&ID, and Navisworks.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and 3D solid modeling.
- Associate degree in CAD Technology or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and adaptability.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- ADDA (American Design Drafting Association) certification.
- Experience with Revit or Inventor.
