Molecular Laboratory Technologist I
Nashville, TN
As a Molecular Laboratory Technologist I, you will perform high-complexity molecular diagnostic testing, adhering to CLIA, CAP, TN Medical Laboratory Board, and company protocols. Your focus will be on the accurate and timely analysis of patient samples using PCR and other molecular techniques to support our oncology-focused testing services.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform clinical testing according to laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, test analysis, and reporting. Maintain accurate records of patient test results.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including performing routine maintenance (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.) and coordinating yearly calibration/preventive maintenance.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly working environment.
- Participate in proficiency testing (or Alternative Performance Assessment testing).
- May perform quality assurance activities such as instrument/method comparisons and reagent qualifications.
- Adhere to quality control procedures and actively participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Participate in troubleshooting and resolving assay or equipment issues, escalating complex problems to Laboratory Management.
- Take responsibility for maintaining the inventory of reagents and consumables.
- Provide recommendations for SOP revisions and may assist with the revision process.
- Comply with all safety guidelines and procedures.
- Support the company’s goals, potentially participating in performing CLIA validation studies.
- Work on assigned projects/tasks with frequent supervision, primarily engaging in clerical tasks and participating as a team member rather than a project lead.
Job Requirements:
- Current State of Tennessee Department of Health Medical Laboratory Technologist License (Generalist) or Special Analyst Molecular Diagnostics License.
- Bachelor’s Degree (minimum) in a chemical, biological, clinical, or medical laboratory science.
- Newly licensed individuals with molecular training will be considered.
- One year of clinical laboratory experience performing high-complexity testing is preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Good Documentation Practice (GDP).
- Strong micro-pipetting skills.
- Preferred experience in molecular diagnostics (e.g., Real-Time PCR, Droplet Digital PCR, Next Generation Sequencing).
- Preferred experience working with a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and Electronic Document Management System (EDMS).
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work effectively in a team.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and evolving environment, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities.
Job Details:
- Work Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday; 6am-2:30pm (Subject to Change)
- Training Schedule: Monday-Friday; 9am-5:30pm
- Flexible and open to occasionally working alternate shifts to support coverage requirements.
- Required to work holidays per Clinical Operations Schedule Policy.
