*Position is required to work onsite at the Seattle office 3 days a week, the other 2 days can be worked remotely
*Hours: Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm
Kelly is seeking a Buyer to work with our client, a game-changing and growing biotech start-up company, on a temporary basis for 4 months to cover for a leave. This is the right opportunity for a Buyer who enjoys groundbreaking science and innovation that ultimately improves and saves lives!
The Buyer will:
- Handle the purchasing activities for Research, Clinical, IT, and Corporate Operations located in Washington
- Review purchase requests for accuracy and place orders
- Track order progress and engage with suppliers for any order problems
- Onboard new suppliers using Coupa
- Identify areas where improved buying channels could be implemented
- Facilitate punchout integration meetings with stakeholders and validate cXML transmission results for purchase orders and invoices in Coupa
- Assist the Accounting department with reconciling discrepant invoices
- Track, document, and report out on supplier performance and supplier KPIs
- Utilize the SRM system to capture supplier performance data, spend analytics, service/goods/categorical capabilities, and compliance data
- Leverage outsourced research service marketplace for efficient flow of R&D SOWs
- Collaborate with Research and LabOps teams to plan consumables material supply
- Support Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) and internal inventory management projects
- Maintain positive working relationships with strategic suppliers
- Identify areas where process improvements are needed, cost savings can be achieved, or contractual agreements are required
- Align with other members of the Procurement team to achieve optimal supplier relationships, efficient procurement strategies, company-wide pricing agreements, and system enhancements
- Negotiate better prices and obtain competitive bids on high value, critical path items
- Engage with key business stakeholders to understand their unique needs
- Assist the Procurement team with ad hoc requests or projects
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of relevant purchasing experience
- Experience in biotech/healthcare and/or in a start-up environment would be an added bonus
- Working knowledge of ordering procedures, inventory replenishment methods, and supplier relationship management
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills (including pivot tables and VLOOKUP)
- Experience using Coupa, SAP S/4 HANA, and/or PowerBI preferred but not required
- Detail oriented with the ability to identify and solve complex problems
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience negotiating preferable pricing, terms, and lead times with suppliers
- Confidence to ask questions to gain understanding, clarity and insight in a novel, ever-changing environment
- High level of efficiency and sense of urgency
- Ability to work well on a team while also completing tasks independently
