Job Title: UX Designer

Pay rate: $48 – $53 per hour

Duration: Until Oct/2026
W2 contract only (No C2C)
Location- Dubuque, IA, 52001

Hybrid role but must be able to travel to site by car periodically.

As a UX Designer for the John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group (Dubuque Works), you will support projects of moderate and high complexity through the development of User Interaction task flows, wireframes, prototypes through to final production for new and existing products.

In addition, you will:

  • Make strategic design and user-experience decisions related to features and develop user-centered system requirements

  • Plan, coordinate, and perform UX interaction design and validation activities for a variety of projects of highly automated systems

  • Collaborate with UX designers on solution concepts derived from user-centered system requirements

  • Work closely with engineering and development teams to ensure features are implemented according to specification

  • Mentor and coach less-experienced UX Designers

Requirements

A portfolio demonstrating ability to prototype and design elegant UX solutions (website URL or attachment) is required upon application

Reside within driving distance of John Deere Dubuque, Iowa and be available to travel to the facility approximately once a month for 2–3 day visits focused on user testing, customer engagement, and design validation

What Skills You Need

  • Proficiency with at least two design and rapid-prototyping tools, such as: Sketch, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe XD, InVision, or Figma to create user interfaces

  • Four or more years of experience planning, executing, and analyzing UX design projects within a design system

  • Four or more years of visual interface design as applied to web, mobile, desktop, or in-vehicle displays

  • Four or more years of experience applying User-Centered Design principles to complex interface problems

  • Four or more years of experience working with cross-functional teams, such as: engineering, software development, marketing, and business leaders

  • Three or more years of experience of communicating research methodology, design concepts, data analysis, and test results to a broad range of stakeholders

  • Three or more years of experience with technology and product development processes

 

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Two or more years of experience with Sketch and Figma

  • Two or more years of visual interface design as applied to in-vehicle displays

  • Demonstrate ability to champion end user experience and to influence digital product designs across product areas

  • Demonstrate experience in product discovery, design research and concept validation to inform experience definition and design concepts

  • A strong portfolio of UI visual design, task flows, and designing to solve user problems

  • Experience using UX metrics and a user-centered design process to provide insights to product engineering groups

  • Experience applying design principles in terms of user flows, accessibility, visual hierarchy, and brand influence

  • Demonstrated ability to utilize prototyping, user flows, storyboards and/or existing research to provide insights to design ahead of high-fidelity design delivery

  • Knowledge of earthmoving equipment and applications

Education (or equivalent work experience)

Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent work experience in the following: Bachelor’s degree in a Human Factors, Graphic Design, Interaction / Visual Design, or related field discipline or equivalent experience.
