What’s a typical day as a Structural Mechanic I? You’ll be:
? Assembling, fitting, and riveting structural components and sheet metal parts to meet FAA, customer, and company quality standards
? Using precision tools like pneumatic drills, rivet guns, countersinks, reamers, and more
? Reading and interpreting blueprints, work orders, sketches, and operation sheets to guide your work
? Performing visual inspections to ensure a defect-free final product before inspection
? Maintaining accurate logs and entering labor against correct work orders
? Working with jigs, clamps, fasteners, and fixtures to align and assemble parts
? Supporting 5S, Lean, and Continuous Improvement initiatives in the shop
? Ensuring compliance with safety procedures and proper care of tools and equipment
This job might be an outstanding fit if you have:
? High School Diploma or GED (required)
? At least 1 year of structural assembly experience or graduate of Savannah Tech Aircraft Structures program
? Basic knowledge of aircraft structures, sheet metal work, and fabrication techniques
? Ability to read and interpret blueprints and 6” scale measurements
? Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and working in tight spaces
? Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
? A strong eye for detail, professional attitude, and passion for hands-on craftwork
? Basic computer skills and shop math capabilities
? Willingness to work any shift and maintain excellent housekeeping practices
