QC Chemist – Pharmaceutical
Seeking a QC Chemist for one of our top clients in the San Antonio, TX area.
As a QC Chemist you will be responsible for performing chemical and physical tests required for quality control as testing and evaluation of results for products and processes.
Job Responsibilities:
- Analyzes samples using the methods in the laboratory, performs calculations and data analysis, and provides appropriate and compliant documentation for review and release of raw materials.
- Analyzes samples using laboratory methods (SMA, USP, FCC, EP), performs calculations and data analysis, and provides appropriate and compliant documentation for review and release of raw materials.
- Continue training on analytical methods to achieve proficiency in testing any/all raw materials for commerical release of production and R&D projects to include method verification testing.
- Assist in the basic operations of the laboratory in support of the essential analytical testing.
- Basic troubleshooting for instruments and methods to meet sample testing requirements.
- Able to present a positive attitude and a professional demeanor.
- Performing basic troubleshooting of instruments
- Using laboratory instrumentation such as gas chromatographs, liquid chromatographs, ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometers, etc.
- Treats numerical data throughout chemical analysis by performing mathematical calculations such as determining concentrations (molarity, parts per million, normality, etc.) and statistical information (standard deviation, mean, etc.)
- Prepares necessary reagents and equipment to expedite the performance of analysis by measuring and/or weighing chemicals, missing and standardizing solutions, and assembling equipment.
- Weights and calculates samples in the physical and chemical analysis of products using balances and measured volumetric containers.
- Organizes and properly labels samples, sample preparations, volumetric solutions etc.
- Must be a team player who works well with management, QC Scientists, and Lab Assistants to achieve assigned goals. Able to present a positive attitude and a professional demeanor.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Biology Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related discipline
- 1+ years of experience including Release and /or Raw Materials testing with HPLC and GC Instrumentation in a pharmaceutical environment is preferred
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical instructions including methods of analysis documents, SOPs and certificate of analysis
- Ability to run chromatography software (Empower and Chromeleon, etc.) from existing methods the computer used for data collection and analysis
- Computer proficient, especially with Microsoft Office products
- 1st Shift – Monday-Thursday 7am-5:30pm and OFF on Friday
- Excellent communication skills and strict attention to detail will be keys to success in this role.
