Join our team as a Lead Hand in Farm Operations at BASF, located in the vibrant agricultural hub of Lethbridge. This role offers you a unique opportunity to lead and support our team in processing high-quality canola seeds, ensuring safety and efficiency in a dynamic farm environment.
Lead Hand Position through Kelly Services for BASF
Length of Assignment: 1 year
Transportation: Location is not accessible via transit; candidates must have their own vehicle.
Schedule: Shift work. Rotating shifts
Qualifications:
Specific Pre-employment Requirements:
- Ability to be fit-tested for a dust mask
- Climb ladders and work at heights
- Work in changing weather conditions
- Operate mobile equipment
- Transportation to site required
- Overtime as needed
- Complete a criminal background check
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Provided
Responsibilities:
The Lead Hand ensures a safe work environment during the processing of canola seed at the Lethbridge production site. They collaborate with the Processing Supervisor to ensure that team members are trained and authorized for their tasks. The Lead Hand coordinates the team to ensure that policies and procedures are followed and leads their shift to accomplish daily processing tasks.
This posting is a year-round job opportunity with positions available in:
Yard Department:
- Operating tractors to deliver seed across the site
- Handling shipping and receiving of seeds
Cleaning Department:
- Operating seed cleaning equipment to remove undesirables from the canola seed
Other Duties Include:
- Checking the quality of team members’ work
- Organizing tasks for the crew
- Handling shipping and receiving materials
- Operating equipment
- Issuing Safe Work Permits
- Reviewing and revising Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures
- Helping resolve team member issues
- Mentoring team members
- Assisting in other areas of the facility as needed
