Legal Assistant
Birmingham, AL 35242 | Full-Time | $60,000–$70,000/year (DOE)
The Birmingham office is a respected mid-size law firm headquartered in Montgomery, seeking a full-time Legal Assistant to join our litigation defense team. We’re looking for a skilled and dependable legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and brings initiative, organization, and accuracy to their work.
Key Responsibilities
- Transcribe dictation and draft correspondence
- Format and prepare pleadings for electronic filing (state and federal courts)
- Upload and organize records in Box and Dropbox
- Set up and maintain both digital and physical case files
- Save and organize email, pleadings, and correspondence in document management system
- Bates stamp and redact documents; assist with document production
- Enter time into billing software and prepare client invoices
- Process reimbursement requests (firm credit card and checks)
- Schedule deadlines, depositions, court reporters, and client meetings
- Calendar court dates and internal deadlines
Qualifications
- Required: 5+ years of legal assistant experience (state and federal litigation support)
- Preferred: Litigation defense experience
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
- Experience with TABS3 or similar billing software (preferred but not required)
- Familiarity with Box and Dropbox for document management a plus
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills
- Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced legal environment
- High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
- Competitive salary: $60,000 – $70,000, depending on experience
- Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
