Our client is seeking an Optical Engineer for a long-term growth opportunity in North Atlanta, GA. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (PhD preferred) in the research and development of fiber optic cable to include the design, testing, and comprising data on the same. Knowledge of waveguides is required.
This is a direct hire opportunity and relocation is available as well for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing measurement techniques for existing and next generation communication optical fibers.
- Working with test equipment vendors to specify test equipment or develop new test methods and equipment.
- Hands-on optical fiber characterization to support new product development and new process development.
- Perform statistical data analysis and develop automation to speed up data collection and data analysis.
- Collaboration with a diverse global team of engineers and scientists.
- Understanding of optical fiber waveguides and electromagnetics.
- Demonstrated skills in developing optical measurements.
- Hands-on experience with optical fiber characterization and working with fiber optic test equipment, such as lasers, power meters, optical spectrum analyzers, OTDR, etc.
- experience with scripting/automation/programming tools (e.g. Python, Visual Basic, MatLab/Octave, Labview, C/C++/C#) are beneficial.
- A working knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE) and Six Sigma techniques is beneficial with prior experience in statistical data analysis and data-based decision making.
