For those who want to keep growing, learning, and evolving. We at Kelly® hear you, and we’re here for you! We’re seeking an Operations Manager to support our client within the motor vehicle manufacturing industry located in Lebanon, TN. 
The Operations Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the organization’s daily operations, ensuring that all processes are executed efficiently, profitably, and in compliance with quality standards. This professional leads the development and implementation of operational strategies, optimizes processes and procedures, and ensures customer satisfaction while maintaining the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance.
Purpose of the Position
To implement the right processes and practices throughout the organization to maximize operational efficiency, improve productivity and profitability, while maintaining legal compliance and exceeding customer expectations in terms of cost-effectiveness and service quality.

Main Responsibilities

  • Strategic Operational Management

    • Formulate strategic and operational objectives aligned with organizational goals.

    • Plan, organize, direct, and evaluate operations of production-related activities.

    • Develop and implement a proactive approach to ensure maximum operational efficiency (OEE) and quality.

    • Examine financial data and use it to improve profitability.

    • Manage budgets, forecasts, and objectives related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.


  • Process Optimization and Continuous Improvement

    • Improve operational management systems, processes, and best practices.

    • Identify, develop, and implement strategies to meet and exceed production targets.

    • Recommend and implement continuous improvement initiatives using a data-driven approach.

    • Lead root cause analysis and implementation of production-related corrective actions.

    • Contribute to continuous improvement of the operational framework by identifying trends and opportunities.


  • Resource and Supply Chain Management

    • Purchase materials, plan inventory, and oversee warehouse efficiency.

    • Coordinate and manage the functioning of various production areas.

    • Coordinate with maintenance management to schedule equipment maintenance activities.

    • Ensure goods are produced safely, efficiently, on time, within budget, and to standard.

    • Supervise raw material, purchased parts, and semi-finished goods warehouses.

    • Manage internal transportation of materials, containers, and dies.

    • Ensure proper handling of equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, containers, etc.).

    • Evaluate supplier performance and negotiate contracts to optimize costs and quality.


  • Leadership and Team Development

    • Recruit, train, and supervise staff, ensuring adequate staffing levels.

    • Lead the development of work instructions, process training, and supervision of daily operations.

    • Provide overall team development strategies through training, coaching, mentoring, and performance measurement.

    • Conduct regular meetings with team leaders to discuss performance, challenges, and improvement opportunities.


  • Quality Control and Compliance

    • Perform quality controls and monitor production KPIs.

    • Maintain compliance with all company policies and Health, Safety, and Environmental regulatory requirements.

    • Ensure reliable inventories in all warehouses and their FIFO methodology.

    • Ensure order and cleanliness in assigned areas.

    • Implement 5’S methodology in internal, external warehouses and yard.

    • Promote continuous improvement in warehouse areas.


  • Relationship Management and Communication

    • Find ways to increase customer service quality.

    • Build and enhance relationships with internal teams and suppliers.

    • Coordinate with various departments to align operational goals with business objectives.

    • Maintain key relationships with important customers.


  • Budget and Financial Management

    • Manage departmental budget to ensure financial targets are met.

    • Develop operational efficiency metrics to measure position performance.

    • Analyze inventory turnover rates and implement cost reduction initiatives.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, or closely related field

  • A minimum of eight (8) years of operations experience may be considered in lieu of degree

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in manufacturing operations

  • Minimum of four (4) years of management or supervisory experience

  • Demonstrated experience managing production team members, including initial hiring, skills assessment, performance management, and career development

Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies

  • Technical Knowledge

    • Comprehensive understanding of MRP and scheduling concepts (SAP experience preferred)

    • Familiarity with business and financial principles

    • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles

    • Understanding of voluntary sustainability scheme management


  • Leadership and Communication Skills

    • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

    • High level of interpersonal skills to effectively lead, motivate, and facilitate in group settings

Languages

  • Proficiency in English (100%)

  • Desirable knowledge of Spanish

The Operations Manager has the necessary authority to make decisions and resolve problems related to their responsibilities, adhering to company policies, including: authority to halt production and product shipping processes, enforce functions and responsibilities, and respond to audits related to the area.
