Shift – 7AM – 3:30PM Monday – Friday
Pay is $23.10 + p/hr BOE

What’s a typical day as a Mechanical Assembler? You’ll be:
• Installing, operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing subway rail cars and systems as directed
• Conducting daily inspections of vehicles
• Performing inbound and outbound inspections, including the inspection of trucks, vestibule, air brake/door seals, and more
• Testing air brakes and door seals
• Conducting repairs and installations, such as emergency windows, body side doors, seats, wheels, interior/exterior trim, and more
• Performing turnaround/layover maintenance, including air brake tests, inspecting the entire rail car, and checking safety appliances and sleeping accommodations
• Gauging wheels for condemning limits and changing shoe pads as needed
• Collaborating with team members and adapting to independent work when required
This job might be an outstanding fit if you:
• Have a High School Diploma or equivalent (technical certification preferred)
• Hold certificates/licenses such as Air Brake Class C, Air Brake Class BL, Passenger Single Car Air Brake Tests, and more
• Possess knowledge of HAZCOM, equipment/system specifications, lock out/tag out, soldering, brazing, heating, and cutting equipment
• Have good oral and written communication skills
• Demonstrate organizational skills with attention to detail
• Have good interpersonal skills and the ability to function as a team member
• Show initiative, leadership, and analytical skills
• Have a valid driver’s license and the ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check
