Kelly Science & Clinical is currently recruiting candidates for a Direct Hire Environmental Manager position at a medium sized chemical manufacturing facility in Lake Charles. This is a great opportunity for candidates with 4-5 years of environmental industry experience to move into a management role and make the small department their own. The overall responsibility of this role is to ensure the company’s compliance with all applicable environmental laws and regulations related to air, hazardous/non-hazardous waste, and wastewater.
Duties and responsibilities
- Provide guidance and assistance to management in the various areas of environmental regulations
- Administer company policies and procedures to ensure compliance in environmental areas including air, water, waste, emergency response, etc.
- Work with the Engineering group to ensure that environmental consideration is given related to plant equipment and processes
- Responsible for the submission of reports to ensure environmental compliance for the facility
- Process permit applications, interface with regulatory agencies including the EPA and LDEQ, and be active in industry environmental efforts
- Ability to head a departmental project of converting paper documents to a new computer based paperless system
- Coordinate non-hazardous / hazardous waste disposal and site waste minimization efforts
- Train personnel on upset reporting procedures
- Develop and foster a constant environmental awareness mindset among all employees at the facility
Qualifications
- BS degree in Environmental Science or related field is highly preferred
- Four years of Environmental related experience in a chemical plant
- Experience with compliance with environmental regulations including EPA and LDEQ
- Emphasis on experience with air, waste, and wastewater regulations in that order of preference
- Good computer skills, written communication skills, and the ability to interface in a professional manner with all levels of personnel
