Temporary Accounting Clerk I
Position Title: Accounting Clerk I
Department: Finance Department
Location: Lamar State College Port Arthur (LSCPA)
Employment Type: Temporary, Full-Time
Job Summary:
The Accounting Clerk I is responsible for a variety of tasks including processing payments, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting dual enrolled students. This role also involves creating and maintaining collection spreadsheets for Retail Merchants. It’s an essential position within the Finance Department that requires high attention to detail and excellent customer service skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and post payments to student and department accounts.
- Maintain an accurate cash drawer and handle inquiries.
- Oversee dual enrollment classes ensuring fees are assigned correctly.
- Reconcile Seahawk Book Bundle and manage TouchNet functions.
- Create and maintain collection spreadsheets.
- Facilitate communications regarding account balances and delinquent payments.
- Participate in campus events and committees.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Stationary position most of the time; moving around the office/campus as needed.
- Operate common office equipment like computers, copiers, and printers.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to operate office equipment proficiently.
Preferred:
- Associate’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of experience in cash handling and transaction processes.
- Knowledge of Ellucian Banner and/or TouchNet.
- Bilingual in Spanish.
Salary: $31,000 – $33,000 per year
Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week
