OVERVIEW
Our client is looking for a Senior Product Development Engineer for a position located in York, PA. They are a U.S.-based manufacturer focused on engineered interconnect solutions, particularly modular connector systems such as RJ?45 plugs and jacks. The company serves a variety of industries including telecommunications, computer networking, medical, premise wiring, data centers, security, healthcare, government, and defense. Your contributions will have a direct impact on our product offerings, making a significant difference in the industry.
SUMMARY
In this role, you will leverage your deep technical knowledge and expertise to drive product development and enhancement initiatives. This position requires a hands-on approach, where you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, sales, toolroom and quality assurance, to create innovative solutions that meet customer needs and regulatory standards. You will lead the design and testing of electronic components and systems, ensuring high performance and reliability in products. As a Senior Engineer, your leadership skills will be critical in mentoring junior engineers and fostering a collaborative environment that encourages continuous improvement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the Design/Development of new electronic products and enhancements.
- Coordinate Engineering Change for existing Products
- Manage New Product Development (familiarity with a gated NPD process a plus)
- Coordinate Engineering Change for existing Products
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and customers/vendors to define product specifications and requirements.
- Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for new product concepts.
- Oversee the testing and validation of product designs to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers/designers.
- Prepare and present project updates and technical documentation to stakeholders.
- Lead New Product Development Design reviews
- Coordinate Engineering Change Management
- Manage design/manufacturing of crimping (Hand tools and automated tools) products
- Support annual ISO certification
- Migrate a legacy paper-based engineering document control
- Introducing PDM to provide a cohesive and controlled engineering document control ecosystem

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in product development within electrical/electronic manufacturing industry including familiarity with RJ45 connectors.
- Strong tool shop experience
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks and AutoCAD).
- Experience with prototyping, testing, and validation of electronic products.
- In-depth knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to electronics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to delivering on time
- Familiarity with production processes (stamping, molding, plating and assembly) and materials
- Design for Manufacturability experience
- ERP experience (product revision control and BOM Management)
- CAE experience (mechanical & molding flow simulation) a plus
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as alone.
