Job details

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Material Handler I to join our team. As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for the receiving, storing, and distributing of materials, parts, and supplies. You will also be in charge of maintaining accurate records of materials and inventory. This is a great opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to the smooth operation of our organization.

Job Type: Full-time
Location: Portage, MI – Onsite

Schedules/Payrates:

  • 2nd Shift: Monday – Friday 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm $19.50/hr

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Perform physical tasks involved in receiving, storing, and distributing materials, parts, and supplies.

  • Maintain accurate records of materials and inventory.

  • Follow procedures, safety sheets, instructions, and policies in English.

  • Adhere to safety practices, including good housekeeping and ergonomics.

  • Participate in workplace organization and training procedures.

  • Demonstrate stamina and attention to detail in repetitive tasks.

  • Speak up and report any safety or quality issues.

  • Learn new processes, systems, and equipment.

  • Work well in a diverse team setting and resolve conflicts.

  • Motivate yourself to grow, learn, and progress in skills through crosstraining.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

  • Ability to meet work schedule and overtime requirements, including weekends.

  • Proficient in reading and understanding procedures, safety sheets, instructions, and policies in English.

  • Ability to carry out verbal instructions and communicate effectively in English.

  • Strong adherence to safety practices and good housekeeping.

  • Experience in manufacturing preferred.

  • Physical ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 20 pounds of force constantly.

  • Ability to work with and sort small component parts.

  • Good visual perception and fine motor skills.

  • High energy level and ability to follow detailed instructions.

  • Accurate documentation skills and attention to minute inconsistencies.

  • Analytical thinking and independent judgment in resolving material and inventory issues.
