Thermoforming Plastic Team Leader – Assembly
Position Title: Team Leader – Thermoforming Plastics
Temp to Hire
Monday-Thursday, 3:30pm-2am 10 hour shift
Occasional OT on Friday 8 hour shift
$20-$25/hr
Position Overview
The Thermoforming Plastic Team Leader will oversee and coordinate the activities of a team of assembly operators within the thermoforming production area. This role ensures safety, quality, and productivity standards are met while fostering teamwork and continuous improvement. The Team Leader acts as the first point of contact for team members, provides hands-on leadership, and supports management with production tracking and problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Supervision
- Lead and supervise a team of assembly operators in a thermoforming plastics environment.
- Assign daily tasks and ensure production schedules are met.
- Train, coach, and mentor team members on processes, safety, and quality standards.
- Promote a positive, safe, and organized work environment.
Production & Quality
- Oversee assembly processes to ensure compliance with production specifications, customer requirements, and company standards.
- Monitor production output, efficiency, scrap, downtime, and adherence to on-time delivery goals.
- Support troubleshooting of assembly or equipment issues and escalate as needed.
- Ensure quality checks are performed consistently and corrective actions are taken when required.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Conduct daily start-up checks and ensure team members use proper PPE.
- Report and document any safety concerns, incidents, or near misses.
Communication & Reporting
- Communicate production goals, priorities, and updates to team members.
- Maintain accurate production records, including downtime, scrap, and output reports.
- Provide feedback to management on team performance, production challenges, and process improvements.
- Participate in daily production meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade certification preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in plastics manufacturing, thermoforming, or assembly.
- Prior leadership or team lead experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of thermoforming processes and assembly techniques.
- Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment.
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs for extended periods.
- Work in a manufacturing environment with noise, heat, and moving equipment.
- Flexible to work overtime, weekends, and shift adjustments as required.
