Lab Technician
Kelly® Science & Clinical is seeking a Lab Technician for a 3 month contract position at a cutting-edge client in Woodland, CA. If you’re passionate about bringing the latest scientific discoveries to life and are ready to take the next step in your career, trust The Experts at Hiring Experts.
Pay: $24 – $27 per hour
Schedule: Full-time, 3-month contract

Overview
This client is an industry-leading company that’s advancing genetic purity testing in agricultural biotechnology. As a Genetic Purity Lab Technician, you will support DNA extractions and genotyping reactions for time-bound projects. You’ll also assist with reagent preparation, equipment maintenance, and general lab operations.


Responsibilities:

  • Execute routine Genetic Purity marker testing under technical direction.

  • Operate scientific equipment for high-throughput DNA extraction and genotyping.

  • Prepare lab reagents and maintain accurate records of lab activities.

  • Perform established protocols independently after training.

  • Set up experiments with proper controls and interpret results.

  • Maintain lab cleanliness and safety standards.

  • Collaborate effectively with lab personnel and research staff.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Associate or B.S. in Science, Biology, Genetics, or related field.

  • At least one year of practical lab experience.

  • Experience with high-throughput DNA marker genotyping is a plus.

  • Strong understanding of lab methods, genetics, and chemistry concepts.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage complex workflows.

  • Proficiency in PC-based software and willingness to learn new programs.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Familiarity with standard molecular biology protocols.

  • Strong spatial perception, mathematical aptitude, and mechanical skills.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to work with hazardous chemicals and wear PPE (gloves, lab coat, safety glasses ~80% of the time; respirator occasionally).

  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods.

  • Some overtime may be required during busy periods.
