Position Overview:
Kelly Engineering Services is seeking a Service Technician to support our client’s operations in Bakersfield, CA. In this role, you will install, service, and maintain water purification and Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems at commercial and industrial customer sites. Responsibilities include delivering, setting up, and exchanging ion exchange tanks, and operating vehicles requiring a valid Class A driver’s license.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Operate and drive service trucks to deliver ion exchange tanks and water treatment equipment to customer locations.
- Load, secure, and inspect equipment for delivery; ensure it meets quality and inventory requirements.
- Complete pre-trip inspections and maintain accurate Vehicle Inspection Reports.
- Maintain inventory records for each site, communicate any changes, and follow up on implementation.
- Conduct water quality testing (TDS, resistivity, pH, CO?, Cl?, hardness) and record results; recommend and implement adjustments when necessary.
- Rinse and exchange ion exchange tanks in line with customer specifications and quality standards.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance including PVC repairs and minor pump/motor servicing.
- Ensure cleanliness and order of vehicles and customer work sites at all times.
- Travel up to four hours from the base location with return the same day (no overnight travel).
- Adhere to the client’s and customers’ Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers and maintain strong customer relationships.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Support product/equipment delivery outside standard duties as required.
- Participate in on-call rotations and work flexible hours, including overtime.
- Be available for emergency service calls during non-business hours.
Preferred Knowledge & Skills:
- Experience with commercial/industrial membrane and UV systems.
- Understanding of PLC logic/programming.
- Familiarity with ion exchange and membrane system operations and theory.
- Background in water pretreatment applications.
- Vocational training in electrical or mechanical fields.
- Basic understanding of formulas and algebra related to RO systems.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Valid Class A commercial driver’s license.
- Clean driving record.
Preferred:
- Associate’s Degree in electrical, mechanical, engineering, or water treatment.
- College coursework in chemistry.
- Experience driving panel vans or service trucks.
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to lift and handle repetitive weight of 50 lbs.
- Work in varying weather conditions and environments.
- Willingness to work on elevated/uneven surfaces and in low-clearance areas for extended periods.
- Exposure to industrial, manufacturing, laboratory, food-grade, and power industry settings.
- Week-long on-call rotations are required.
