Kelly Engineering is actively seeking a qualified Senior Manufacturing Engineer for a position with our client located in Bolton, CT. This is a U.S.-based custom electromagnetics manufacturer that excels in designing, prototyping, and producing specialized coils, transformers, and assemblies tailored to each client’s exact needs. They specialize in the design and manufacturing of precision-wound coils, transformers, solenoids, and cable assemblies. JOB SUMMARY
Seeking a highly experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead process optimization and production efficiency initiatives within our electronic component manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will bring significant expertise in lean manufacturing, work-cell layout design, electrical testing, as well as basic assembly procedures. This is a hands-on technical role with a strong focus on manufacturing process development, improving throughput, product quality, and manufacturing cost-effectiveness. This role requires both office and hands-on shop floor presence. You will work with standard office tools (computers, phones, etc.) as well as various manufacturing, machining, electrical test, and inspection equipment. Occasional travel between nearby facilities (within 1 mile) may be required.
RESPONSIBILTIES
- Innovating in wire-wound electrical component manufacturing and build-to-print process development.
- Leading lean manufacturing initiatives that directly impact efficiency, quality, and profitability.
- Optimizing work cell layouts to unlock new levels of performance and ergonomics.
- Implementing and overseeing assembly procedures that keep us ahead of industry standards.
- New process development and capital investment recommendations as process capabilities expand.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or similar.
- 7+ years of experience in manufacturing with 3+ years’ experience working with related products and/or processes.
- Experience working in AS9100 / ISO 9001 quality systems in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiar with ASME Y14.5 GD&T requirements
- Lean manufacturing / Six-Sigma training
- Mechanical aptitude including equipment set up and maintenance.
- Experience with electrical testing of components and assemblies
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and inspection methods
- Proficient with solid modeling software (Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, NX, Catia) and ERP systems.
- Prior experience in manufacturing senior, leadership or supervisory roles preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and solution evaluation skills
- Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, internally and externally.
- Excellent technical writing skills
- Independent starter with high self-motivation and self-management capabilities
- Excellent prioritization and project development / management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to build and maintain productive work relationships.
- Skilled at Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Basic project scheduling skills and experience with scheduling software
- Ability to accept and adapt to changing internal and external customer requirements.
- Must be a US Person as defined by ITAR.
