Position Summary:
Our client in Cincinnati is seeking an entry-level Lab, R&D Technician, to support engineering team in the development and testing of medical devices. This is a hands-on role, focused on electrical and mechanical assembly, prototyping, basic testing, and troubleshooting. New graduates, or individuals with up to 2 years of relevant experience who are eager to build their skills in a regulated product development environment are encouraged to apply.
 
Role is a Contract without an end date, a perfect opportunity to build skill set and gain exposure to new technologies.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
The Technician will support the engineering team by coordinating and performing a variety of technical lab tests, maintaining equipment, and documenting results to assist with new product development and ongoing engineering projects. This entry-level role provides hands-on experience with engineering testing, troubleshooting equipment, and protocol support in a fast-paced innovative environment.
 
Assist engineers with setting up and running technical tests and verification protocols.
Monitor, maintain, and help calibrate lab equipment and tools to ensure reliable operation.
Procure lab supplies, specialty gases, and raw materials as needed for testing activities.
Troubleshoot and repair lab equipment and support routine maintenance needs.
Communicate ongoing lab activity, equipment status, and any updates clearly to the team.
Record and organize test results and assist with data analyses under engineering guidance.
Collaborate with the Engineering Lab Supervisor and team members to meet testing schedules and project goals.
Share insights as a technician during protocol development and lab method updates.
Support troubleshooting and repair of lab infrastructure (data loggers, test racks, environmental chambers) and coordinate with external vendors as needed.
Work closely with engineers and QC technicians to help define and execute lab objectives.
Identify process improvements to streamline lab operations and boost efficiency.
 
Position Requirements:
1–4 years’ experience in a lab or engineering technician role.
Familiarity with basic hand tools and technical troubleshooting.
Solid documentation skills for formal protocols and lab notebook entries.
Detail-oriented and organized, able to manage several test projects efficiently.
Effective communicator who is resourceful, motivated, and a reliable team player.
Able to prioritize tasks, coordinate multiple tests simultaneously, and maintain accurate records in a dynamic setting.
 
Preferred:
Associate’s degree or technical certification in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
Experience as an engineering technician in a product development or manufacturing setting, ideally with medical devices or other regulated electromechanical systems.
Strong hands-on skills in electrical and/or mechanical assembly, prototyping, and troubleshooting of devices and equipment.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and test procedures.
Proficient in using hand/power tools, meters, oscilloscopes, and mechanical measurement devices.
Familiarity with test data collection, basic statistical analysis, and technical documentation.
Experience working within FDA and ISO 13485 environments (preferred).
Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
Strong team player with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
