Position Overview:
We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Safety Compliance Engineer with a strong electrical background to join our remote team. This role focuses on ensuring our products meet stringent safety and compliance standards, particularly those set by Underwriters Laboratories (UL). You will work cross-functionally to guide product development from concept through certification.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee product safety compliance, focusing on UL standards and requirements.
- Review and interpret safety standards (UL, IEC, CSA, etc.) for new and existing products.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure product designs comply with required safety standards.
- Prepare, submit, and manage documentation for product testing and certification.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for UL certification bodies and testing labs.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for electrical safety.
- Support internal training on safety and compliance topics related to electrical products.
- Advise teams on design changes needed for compliance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (required).
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in safety compliance engineering, preferably in the electrical/electronics industry.
- Proven expertise with UL testing requirements and certification processes.
- Strong understanding of electrical safety, standards, and best practices.
- Experience preparing and managing compliance documentation.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with other compliance standards (IEC, CSA, CE, etc.) a plus.
- Familiarity with Risk Management and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
