Chemical Laboratory Technician-Midland, TX

Kelly Science & Clinical is currently recruiting candidates for a Chemical Laboratory Technician.

As a Chemical Laboratory Technician with Kelly Science & Clinical you will be responsible for supporting laboratory operations, performing maintenance functions and completing non-technical and technical routine laboratory tests and procedures under the direction of professional staff.

 
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • General laboratory processes, record keeping, administrative and housekeeping duties.

  • Must understand and comply with company policies and act in accordance with all applicable safety regulations and procedures.

  • Schedule, maintain, and calibrate all lab test equipment to ensure good working order for accurate and safe use.

  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures to set up and run all specified tests.

  • Cement tests to include but not limited to, thickening times, fluid properties, static gel strength, gas migration, and compressive strengths.

  • Stimulation tests to include but not limited to fracturing fluid stability, break test profile, acid-oil compatibility, emulsion testing, and solid identification.

  • Perform various general chemistry lab techniques and wet chemistry.

  • Understand and utilize all pertinent lab calculations and conversions.

  • Compile and interpret test data, establish conclusion and write reports using CEMLAB, and Microsoft Office.

  • Communicate and formalize test results to clients, colleagues, and manager.

  • Monitor the status of lab chemical inventory and replenish necessary chemicals as required by SOP or Lab Manager.

  • Prepare samples for shipping and delivery to clients.

  • Perform various other duties assigned by manager and project tasks with little or no supervision

 
REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related field.

  • 1year experience preferred Oil & Gas Industry.

  • Internship in chemistry lab for relative field required.

  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.

  • Computer skills proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Knowledge of lab testing and analytical equipment & software.

  • Knowledge of testing procedures in at least one product line; production chemicals, fracturing fluids, cementing, and/or acidizing.

  • Must be able to work alone and part of a team.

JOB DETAILS

  • Contract-to-hire

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm

  • Pay Rate: $22-25 per hour dependent upon level of education and experience
