Location: Onsite – Fraser, MI
Compensation: $50/hr+ (flexible based on experience)
Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire or Direct Hire
Job Description:
A fast-growing specialty food manufacturer based in Fraser, MI is looking for a Controller to take ownership of its accounting and financial operations. This is a high-impact, hands-on role where you’ll partner closely with ownership and the production team to drive financial accuracy, transparency, and efficiency. We’re seeking someone with a strong background in manufacturing accounting, who is proficient in QuickBooks, and thrives in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment.
Responsibilities:

Oversee all day-to-day accounting functions: AP/AR, general ledger, and bank reconciliations

Run payroll and ensure compliance with state and federal tax requirements

Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports

Manage budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and financial planning

Maintain cost accounting records for inventory, product costing, and production analysis

Reconcile inventory to ensure accurate cost of goods sold reporting

Coordinate with external accountants for audits, year-end close, and tax filings

Implement and maintain strong internal financial controls

Work closely with leadership to track expenses, margins, and product line profitability

Optimize vendor payments, invoicing, and credit terms

Identify and lead process improvements to increase financial accuracy and operational efficiency
Qualifications:

Proven experience as a Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar senior-level accounting role in a manufacturing setting

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

Proficiency in QuickBooks is required
-
Solid understanding of cost accounting and inventory processes
