Purchasing Supervisor – Duffield, VA
Direct Hire/Full-Time

Overview: In this role, you will manage procurement activities for materials, components, equipment, and services, ensuring alignment with production schedules. The successful candidate will bring expertise in purchasing, negotiation, and supply chain processes, combined with strong leadership abilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct and mentor purchasing staff, overseeing daily activities, training initiatives, and performance reviews.

  • Develop and execute sourcing and procurement strategies that drive cost efficiency, enhance quality, and ensure timely product delivery.

  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate purchasing schedules to satisfy production demands.

  • Assess supplier performance, cultivate effective partnerships, and manage vendor relationships.

  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with vendors to secure favorable agreements.

  • Collaborate with production, planning, and inventory teams to guarantee material availability.

  • Address challenges related to supply delays, shortages, or quality concerns.

  • Maintain accurate procurement records, price lists, and supplier documentation.

  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry standards.

  • Interpret purchasing data and prepare reports for senior management.

  • Identify areas for cost reduction and operational improvement within the procurement process.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related discipline preferred.

  • 3–5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing setting.

  • Previous experience leading a team or managing direct reports.

  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.

  • Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Strong grasp of sourcing strategies and procurement processes.

  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and inventory management practices.

  • Ability to manage stress and perform effectively under tight deadlines.
