Location: Farmington, CT
Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Pay: $20.00/hr
About the Opportunity
We are looking for a reliable and motivated Entry-Level Powder Coat Operator to join our manufacturing team. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with prior manufacturing experience who are looking to build new skills and grow into a long-term career. Experience with sheet metal is strongly preferred, and consistent work history (tenure) is important for success in this role.
Job Summary
As a Powder Coat Operator, you will operate powder coating equipment and ensure high-quality finishing on all products. You’ll work closely with team members to maintain production flow, accuracy, and safety.
Responsibilities
- Load sheet-metal and fabricated parts onto the conveyor line in preparation for powder coating
- Verify parts are properly prepped, clean, and dry prior to entering the spray booth
- Apply powder coating with attention to accuracy and zero-defect standards
- Unload completed parts and ensure 100% quality before moving to the next stage
- Confirm and track production orders using SAP/TruTops Fab
- Properly handle, package, and deliver finished parts with complete and accurate paperwork
- Utilize material replenishment systems, including Kanban and MRP
- Follow rework procedures for defective or nonconforming parts
- Safely operate tools and equipment (forklifts, power tools, etc.)
- Assist with color changeovers and perform routine area checks
- Read and interpret blueprints and written specifications
- Perform physical tasks such as standing for long periods and lifting up to 70 lbs
- Support 5S principles and basic preventive maintenance activities
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Prior manufacturing experience required (entry level welcome)
- Sheet-metal manufacturing experience strongly preferred
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to read blueprints and follow written work instructions
- Basic computer skills for reviewing and printing work orders
- Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team
- Dependable work history and strong work ethic
