Location: Cayey, PR
Pay Rate: $14.50 per hour
Shift: Second Shift
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Manufacturing Technician for a biotechnology manufacturing environment. The technician is responsible for completing manufacturing orders and following established procedures, while actively identifying and reporting potential issues. Participation in continuous improvement initiatives is expected.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare materials according to established procedures.
- Inspect and verify calibration and maintenance of equipment; maintain related logs and records.
- Perform in-process testing and reclaim/re-test resins as required.
- Clean work areas daily and maintain good housekeeping practices.
- Pack, clean, and equilibrate chromatography columns as scheduled.
- Maintain chemical and lab supply inventory; complete SAP transactions and inventory control.
- Support manufacturing activities in tissue culture, purification, and conjugation areas.
- Process cell supernatant for debris removal and product concentration.
- Formulate monoclonal antibody reagents and manufacture buffers/solutions per established documentation.
- Operate equipment including pipettes, balances, pH/conductivity meters, and spectrophotometers.
- Execute filling and packaging processes (labeling, bagging, pouching, vialing).
- Promote a safe work environment by following safety procedures and reporting hazards.
- Support Quality Assurance compliance and participate in regulatory training.
- Offer recommendations for continuous improvement in product quality, cost reduction, and production capability.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience with aseptic techniques and in-process testing methods.
- Operation of laboratory instrumentation such as spectrophotometers, centrifuges, microscopes, biosafety hoods, etc.
- Preparation of dilutions, buffers, and solutions.
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Knowledge of GMP, FDA, ISO, and OSHA requirements (preferred).
- Proficiency in MS Office and Windows environment.
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to follow established policies and procedures.
- Bilingual: English and Spanish.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (minimum requirement).
- Experience in a laboratory, pharmaceutical, medical device, or biotechnology environment, or equivalent education and experience.
Physical and Mental Demands
- Ability to follow detailed written or oral instructions and manage stressful situations.
- Frequent lifting, carrying, and pushing of heavy objects; constant standing, walking, and handling tasks.
- Occasional kneeling; visual acuity and color discrimination required.
