Night Shift Forklift Operator (Stand-Up Reach / Sit-Down / EPJ)
Location: Alcoa, TN
Shift: Night Shift
Schedule: Sunday – Thursday
Hours: 6:00 PM – 2:00 AM (may extend to 4:00 AM based on production)
Overtime: Mandatory during peak/holiday periods
Position Overview
The Night Shift Forklift Operator supports high-volume warehouse operations by safely operating powered industrial equipment to move, replenish, and stage product for outbound distribution. This role is critical to maintaining workflow efficiency, dock flow, and selector productivity in freezer, cooler, and dry environments.
Key Responsibilities

Operate powered industrial equipment, primarily Stand-Up Reach Truck

Transport product from receiving docks or reserve storage to designated warehouse locations

Replenish primary pick slots and drop pallets to support outbound selection

Pull materials for production lines and move finished goods to storage or trailers

Load and unload trailers safely and efficiently

Maintain accurate inventory records (quantities, pack size, descriptions)

Use RF scanners, voice systems, or other warehouse technology

Maintain 6S standards (clean aisles, remove debris, manage damaged pallets/shrink)

Complete equipment inspections and follow all OSHA and company safety protocols

Work collaboratively with selectors, loaders, and leadership to maintain workflow

Freezer: down to –10°F

Cooler: approximately 35°F

Physical Requirements

Stand and/or walk for up to 10-hour shifts
-
Regular lifting of 20–80 lbs</strong>; occasional lifting 90+ lbs

Frequent twisting, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, climbing, and stooping

Ability to work safely in varying temperatures
Required Qualifications
-
Minimum 1 year of experience operating a Stand-Up Reach Truck or equivalent forklift
-
Strong knowledge of PIT safety standards and load stability
-
Ability to read and execute RF scanner tasks, labels, and location codes

Strong problem-solving and time-management skills
-
Ability to work independently while remaining productive

Reliable attendance and punctuality
-
High School Diploma or GED preferred
-
Forklift/PIT certification (in-house recertification provided if needed)
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience in freezer or cooler warehouse environments
-
Prior experience with WMS systems (e.g., Blue Yonder, Manhattan)

Ability to operate multiple PIT types (Reach Truck, Sit-Down, EPJ, OP, Clamp)
-
Background in food or retail distribution centers (e.g., US Foods, Sysco, Walmart DC, Amazon, Kroger, Target DC)
Training & Onboarding
-
PIT certification and safety orientation: 2–3 days
-
Full task competency training: 1–2 weeks

On-site interview and possible PIT evaluation required
