Technical Illustrator / Technical Writer
Location: Mukwonago, WI
Assignment Type: Temporary (6–12 months)
Pay Rate: $20.00/hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Technical Illustrator/Technical Writer to develop comprehensive work instructions for operating automation equipment within our facility. This role plays a key part in ensuring operators have clear, accurate, and standardized documentation for safe and efficient production.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed instructions for operating various automation equipment, from start-up to shutdown
- Document safety, quality, and performance standards (Critical-to-Quality / CTQ requirements)
- Outline necessary tools and materials for each step of the process
- Create logical, step-by-step task sequences for operators
- Collaborate with engineers, subject matter experts, and operators to gather process information
- Validate instructions directly on the production floor
- Incorporate photos, diagrams, and other visual aids to improve understanding
- Maintain compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements
- Periodically update documentation and manage version control as processes change
Qualifications
- Experience in technical writing, manufacturing documentation, or process engineering
- Familiarity with automation equipment and industrial production environments
- Strong attention to detail; able to translate complex concepts into clear instructions
- Proficient with Microsoft Office or similar documentation tools
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles
- Experience writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
