Inventory Control Clerk

Job Overview

The Inventory Control Clerk is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records by performing physical counts, investigating discrepancies, and updating inventory systems. This role plays a key part in ensuring inventory accuracy, supporting operational efficiency, and identifying process gaps within a fast-paced, occasionally changing environment. The position requires strong attention to detail, basic computer skills, and the ability to communicate findings clearly.
 

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Onsite role, Aurora, IL


  • Schedule: 8:00 am – 5:00pm Monday to Friday


  • Pay Rate: $20 – $25/hour


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform regular physical inventory counts and reconcile results with system records


  • Investigate inventory discrepancies, identify root causes, and correct errors as needed


  • Verify clerical and system data against physical stock and supporting documentation (sales orders, purchase invoices, production records)


  • Generate inventory reports, including stock balances, shortages, and variances


  • Prepare lists of depleted, damaged, defective, or unusable items and recommend next steps


  • Communicate findings and discrepancies with operations and leadership teams


  • Support inventory accuracy during process changes, relocations, or operational transitions


  • Maintain organized and accurate inventory documentation


Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required


  • Minimum of 1 year of inventory, warehouse, or related experience


  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy


  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, occasionally chaotic environment


  • Basic computer and data entry skills


  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in food production, distribution, or warehouse environments


  • Familiarity with inventory systems or the ability to quickly learn new technology


  • Prior experience with inventory audits, reconciliation, or quality control processes
